Parents as Teachers

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a voluntary and free program in every Missouri school district designed for all families with children from prenatal to Kindergarten entry. We follow guidelines set forth by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), for PAT, Parents as Teachers provides support to meet those requirements.

1. Parents are their child's first and most influential  teacher

2. Experiences in the first  years of a child's life are key to future success in school and in life.

PAT Offers:

Personal Visits - Certified parent educator, trained in child development, help parent(s) understand each stage of the child's development and offer practical tips on ways to encourage learning.

Group Connections- These programs allow parents to gather together, share common concerns and gain new insights.

Screenings - Periodic screenings to check hearing and vision, language and overall development of the child. Early detection of potential problems helps to prevent later difficulties in school.

Referral Network - If desired, PAT helps families link with extra services going beyond the PAT program.
